Emergency Services For Pets
Daytime urgent care, expert assessment, and trusted emergency referrals when your pet needs help fast.
Caring For Your Pets During Emergencies
When your pet experiences a sudden illness or injury, Desert Paws Mobile Veterinary Care is here to support you. We offer urgent care during business hours and can evaluate many conditions quickly to provide immediate relief and guidance. However, some emergencies require specialized equipment, intensive monitoring, or 24-hour care. In those cases, we will refer you to a fully equipped emergency veterinary hospital to ensure your pet receives the fastest and safest level of treatment.
How to Tell if Your Pet Is Having an Emergency
Not every symptom or injury requires immediate intervention, but it can be difficult to know when urgent care is needed. If your pet shows any of the following signs, they should be evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible:
- Snake bite
- Heatstroke or overheating
- Trauma or suspected injury
- Possible poisoning (contact ASPCA Poison Control)
- Rapid, labored, or difficult breathing
- Pale gums or signs of poor circulation
- Uncontrolled bleeding
- Collapse or loss of consciousness
- Seizures
- Inability to pass stool
- Ongoing vomiting or diarrhea
- Refusing food for more than 24 hours
If you’re ever unsure whether your pet’s symptoms are an emergency, don’t hesitate to call. Our team can help you assess the situation over the phone and guide you toward the appropriate level of care.
What to Do If Your Pet Has an Emergency
If your pet experiences an emergency during our regular business hours (Monday–Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM), please contact us immediately. While urgent care availability varies day by day, we will help you assess your pet’s condition over the phone and determine the fastest, safest next step. When appropriate, we can come to your home to provide immediate care. If your pet requires sedation, advanced diagnostics, or more specialized attention, we may ask you to bring them to our surgery center for treatment.
After-Hours Emergencies
If your pet needs prompt medical attention outside of our business hours, on weekends, or during times when we cannot see patients urgently, we refer all critical cases to trusted 24-hour emergency veterinary hospitals in the Tucson area. These facilities are equipped for intensive monitoring, advanced imaging, and life-saving care when every minute matters.
